What Mobility accessories tools can help you Recover...

As we all know CrossFit can be hard on the body and while we will always recommend a high quality protein to help your recovery, your favourite Mobility accessories can make a massive difference not only to your recover but ensuring you get your body into the right position.

The MASSAGE STICK

The massage stick has been a favourite of mine for many years. It is a great tool you can use to give yourself a good rub down pre and post WOD. Dubbed as the “toothbrush for muscles”, this is ideal for targeting certain trigger points and specific muscles that are sore and stiff. The massage stick is designed for to treat a low range of tightness, so it’s a good complementary tool.

FOAM ROLLERS

A must for your box and your lounge room. Foam rollers are perfect for getting deep into those muscle tissues. There are many forms of this tool—namely soft, rubber and trigger point rollers—it’s up to you to use the one that would best give you mobility, recovery and relief.

MOBILITY COMPRESSION BAND

The Voodoo Floss compression band is popular but not my first go to, while others will say they are a must a must-have when you’re about to get your 1 rep max in your back/front squat or deadlifts. This band helps in improve your range, restore your joint mechanics and compresses the swelling of tissues. 

 

RESISTANCE BAND

Resistance bands are used in CrossFit, weightlifting, plyometrics and rehabilitation. These are perfect for all kinds of mobility needs—your shoulders, knees or ever your hips. Check out u-tube for some videos on using them.

ARMAID

 

I use this one so I feel confident in recommending but it is not the cheapest. Make sure you read the instructions on this one!

LACROSSE BALL

Along with the foam rollers probably the most popular mobility accessory tool that you can use to roll out your sore spots. This ball gets deep into your muscle tissue and softens out any knots and soreness quickly. You’ll definitely see the difference!

Mobility accessories aren't just for the box or gym. In fact I think more gains can be made using in-front of the TV.
